Someone told me when we first arrived in Hawaii that the sunset was visible from Sunset Beach all year round, ergo the name. However, photographic evidence collected through 2000 proves that the sun sets behind Kaene Point through the winter months. So technically, the sunset isn't visible all year round. Almost, though.

The summer and fall equinoxes were way okay, but winter did in the tale. Still, Sunset Beach is one of the best beach areas around, and usually more secluded than the south island locations, and with way better waves in the winter.
