Christmas Day 2000
Christmas Day in Hawaii is a little different than on most of the mainland. For one thing, you'll often hear the phrase "Mele Kalikimaka" rather than "Merry Christmas." Also, Santa apparently arrives on a sleigh pulled by dolphins, and the children wake up to swimming gear, bikes, and other wheeled gifts.
Our day began with a two-mile jog, followed by a trip to downtown Waikiki for a stroll, some breakfast at Denny's, and more strolling. It was truly a beautiful day to celebrate and ponder the true gift of Christmas. | ||
